Opportunities

    • Assist participants during sessions by providing physical support and encouragement

    • Help ensure safety while participants learn to ride and bond with horses

    • No horse experience required – we provide comprehensive training

    • Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week

    • Help with daily care including grooming, feeding, and basic maintenance

    • Assist with preparing horses for therapy sessions

    • Support barn management and equipment care

Who Can Volunteer?

  • Anyone with a big heart and a willingness to learn.

  • Volunteers working directly with participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check. Stridewell Learning covers any associated fees to ensure there are no barriers to joining our team.

  • We offer individual and small group equine-assisted programs, riding and ground-based, for all ages, to build confidence, communication, and connection.   • We work with both children and adults, and tailor our services to each individual’s needs and goals.

    At this time, we primarily support individuals with Autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health challenges. 

    We currently have limited capacity to support individuals with significant physical or mobility needs. However, feel free to reach out; if we’re not the right fit, we’re happy to offer referrals or help connect you with other supports.

  • We’re based in Ottawa, Ontario and serve both local clients as well as clients across Canada and the USA.. In-person equine programs are held at the farm in Manotick, Ontario, and advocacy services are available virtually or in- person.
